I was blessed with the God Given Raw talent or art that has been passed through our family for generations. My medium of choice is Acrylic and have been painting on a regular basis since 2014.
As a child I dabbled like any child does in art through the school system. I remember my grandmother painting when I was very little. She did it as a job in a studio where she would take old black and white portraits and turn them into beautiful color portraits. My grandmother would show me pictures of landscapes and deer that one of her sons used to paint in oil. The other two brothers sketched and drew for fun but nothing in a serious manner. My mom is also an artist. What can I say… God is good.
I started painting because I wanted to get on canvas what I was feeling, not necessary to sell but like therapy to me. Painting gave me peace and I could sit and paint for hours without even realizing time has passed. Tragedy is the culprit that sent me to paint in 2011 for therapy. This therapy from tragedy became a healing process and a blessing. Now I just simply want to paint for joy and want the beauty in the world to come out and share with others maybe to inspire someone else.
I put my paintings on Facebook just to share, and was joyfully (& artfully) happy of others interest to make a painting of mine one of their own. This was the spark for Artfully Happy. I don’t have any formal training but if I can make someone smile and give them emotions of joy when they look at their painting, I have done what God has called me to do….to reach people through a canvas!!!
